Amal Alamuddin was born Beirut. The Arabic term for "hope" is'ml. Her age was two when her family relocated into Buckinghamshire from Lebanon during the Lebanese Civil War. The father of her mother, Ramzi Alamuddin, a Lebanese Druze who was from the Alam al-Din dynasty village located in Baakline located in the Chouf District] received his MBA degree at the American University of Beirut. He returned to Lebanon in 1991[12][13] following the end of the civil conflict. Her mother, Baria (nee Miknass), was born to a family of Sunni Muslims in Tripoli in Northern Lebanon,[14][11] and a Palestinian-Jordanian[15] mother. She was editor of foreign affairs of al-Hayat, a Saudi-run paper. 16] She is the director of the public relations company International Communication Experts, which is part of a larger business that specializes in celebrity guest bookings, publicity photography, and event promotion. Amal is a native of the Philippines. She is the mother of two siblings and one brother. She then studied at St Hugh's College, Oxford and was awarded an award for exhibitions and the Shrigley Award.
